Should Schools Ban Junk Food?
Childhood obesity is a huge problem in America. It is caused by excessive body fat, and lack of exercise or healthy eating. Some schools are choosing whether or not to stop selling junk food in the cafeterias because of this problem. Some schools have already decided to ban any unhealthy snacks. Based on an Article (Resource A), and an infographic (Resource C), I think most schools should stop selling junk food. There are so many health crises caused by just being overweight. This problem also comes with risks and diseases, and you would have to pay a lot of money to help yourself be in shape and to have health care. I think that For instance, there are many health crises in the world that come with being in extremely bad shape. It comes with the eating habits that you develope. In order to prevent this, it is better to just make healthy choices for yourself. As stated in Source A, “Obesity is a health epidemic across our country and we he a responsibility as a government and society to do all we can to good nutrition and healthy eating to reverse this eating trend.” Being able to have good health comes with a good eating habit. Having the right nutrition when dealing with obesity will really help mend the situation. Many people in America that deal with this problem have a chance that they will die. In source A, the author states, “Nearly 300,000 people day each year from complications associated with being obese or overweight.” Due to these problems many will suffer with these complications, or worse. Therefore, schools not sell junk food because of these very intriguing predicaments that happen with children. In addition, there are many health risks and health risks that are involved with this issue. For instance when the author states, “70% of children have at least one risk factor for heart disease.” At a young age heart diseases are not very healthy for you. Having these risks as a child, can give you a high chance of actually having that disease the future. Later in life it can lead to bigger problems such as death. On document C the author states, “Today’s children will be the first generation since the great depression projected to have a shorter lifespan than their parents.” This can cause a family impact with them having to deal with a loss due to the fact that he/she did not choose to eat healthy. To prevent these problems eating habits have to be fixed and exercising daily will help stop the problem and prevent it from happening again. So, schools should rethink having to sell sweets at their schools. Furthermore, the costs to fix this problem is really costing so much money. It is so expensive having to pay for children to be cured. Stated on source C, “By 2018 the U.S. will spend 344 billion dollars on obesity-related health care costs, the cost of 13,835,959.9 years of college.” If the children were to decide to eat healthier, the state wouldn’t have to pay for the children. If children don’t have any snacks at home they will most likely decide to eat the junk food from school. Having to be even just treated, is so expensive as stated on source C, “ Children treated for obesity are 300% more expensive for our health care system than kids of a healthy weight.” Paying more for the health care would really lower your income and drain money. If children were to stay healthy, you wouldn’t run out of money quickly and save money. Therefore, yes, schools should stop selling junk food to the students because of all these reasons. I don’t think that people want to die or have heart diseases at a young age. And parents wouldn’t want to pay a lot more to have their children lose weight. Really think about how many people suffer from this and don’t want to suffer from this disease.

In the image above, the person is thinking about the image, which can be anything.
-In this case epistemology is explained because the person can be thinking about the irrefutable truth. Our minds may trick us, but the thing is, we can not trust our bodies to tell us the truth; the only thing we trust is our minds. Thinking does not need any requirement of a place or any type of material. What we think is affected by autority, tradition, and our culture. Thinking, however, is an irrefutable truth and proves our existence. |
